What Are "Clones"?

Clone golf clubs are clubs that are designed and manufactured by smaller (often family owned and operated) club makers to match the playing characteristics of "big name" brand clubs.  The club design is altered slightly so that the club is not an exact physical match to the original, but still retains the feel and playability of the brand name club.

Very often, the actual "heads" of the clone club are manufactured right alongside the original in the same factories abroad.  This means that while the design may be slightly different, they are using the exact same metals, materials and machines to make both club heads.

What this means for us as golfers is that we can get the latest technology in golf clubs, custom fit for our bodies and swings at prices up to 70% off "brand" prices.  Why not spend that money on more rounds of golf?
